THE ANCIENT AGORA
This site looks more like a huge garden than an excavation area! In fact, 2,500 years ago, it used to be a very busy market place during antiquity and the heart of everyday Athenian life.
Its museum is called The Stoa of Attalus and has been reconstructed in modern times. Overlooking this commercial area, on top of the adjacent hill, stands the best preserved temple in Greece: The Temple of Hephaestus.
