THE PANATHENAIC STADIUM
Built completely out of marble for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, it was reconstructed according to the ancient stadium of the 4th century. With a capacity to seat 69,000 visitors, it is used today to commemorate special occasions and for public festivities, such as the finishing line of the Athens Marathon.
